Born and raised in Alberta, I've been drawing and painting since I could hold a paint brush. I'm primarily self-taught, with the exception of the odd course in school. I can't settle on a favorite medium. I love them all for different reasons. I've recently focused on charcoal, but I like to switch it up.
When I was very young, my mother would show me her paint brushes and teach me to paint. Thanks to her, t's been a whirlwind of art projects ever since. I have an affinity for things that are a little off-kilter. I like mashing up fantasy with nature, creating things that don't quite exist in real life. Anything and everything can be an inspiration: that tree that looks like it has a face, the shadow of that guy standing against a wall, a picture in a book. The imagination is a beautiful tool.
You can find me on Instagram and Facebook @stephbuxtonart. My art will be showcased on 83rd Avenue near 104St.
