Janet Kan is an oils and pencil artist who has displayed in several small shows. Her work is primarily oil on canvas or canvas paper, coloured pencil or water colour pencil. Her subjects are varied and tend toward dramatic light/dark contrasts.
I have drawn since childhood, but had little access to formal art training until taking a painting class as a means to cope with a highly stressful career and heavy workload
As a result of working with immigrants.refugees in my career, as well as extensive travel, I've become fascinated with passages and portals; what is around that corner, up those stairs or through that door, gate or window? As a master gardener, I have always been drawn to landscapes, plant life and animals/birds.I love colour and variety.
I sell my originals and don't choose to make copies. I want those who buy my work to have the unique.
