Dilys was born and raised in Edmonton and spent most of her life expressing her creativity with music. Between shifts as a Registered Nurse Dilys can be found on the Jubilee Auditorium Stage singing with Edmonton Opera, spending time with her husband and 2 children and in her studio creating encaustic art.
In 2014 with a new digital camera and a photography course Dilys began to explore visual artist side by taking 1000's of photographs all the while learning composition, lighting and perspective. In the spring of 2015 she started painting with acrylic and mixed media. She was introduced to the Encaustic Medium in the summer of 2015 and hasn't looked back. Besides local workshops in watercolour, encaustics and photography Dilys has had no formal visual art training. She paints intuitively and reactively using music and nature as her inspirations. As a painter, Dilys collaborated with Edmonton Opera for the 2015-2016 Opera Season by creating a series of paintings called "Encaustic Opera" . This series represented the 2015-2016 opera season and were displayed and sold at the Alberta Jubilee Auditorium during Edmonton Opera's performances. Since then Dilys has been delighted to display her work in various venues and art walks/shows around Edmonton.
