I will be creating a new oil painting at my table on Whyte Ave during the art walk, from initial sketch to completed painting (hopefully!), as well as displaying a collection of my oil paintings (in various sizes of figurative and landscape genres).

I graduated several years ago from the University of Alberta with a B.F.A. degree. After some years of pursuing other career paths, I have recently become determined to work more diligently at my art. My goals are to acquire some experience in exhibiting, and to actively further my development as an artist.

Artistically, I am most influenced by the art of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including the impressionist, post-impressionist, symbolist and expressionist painting movements. My painting style lies somewhere between impressionism and expressionism, which gives me a range of ideas to work with when searching for a mode of expression.  Landscapes and figures are the most interesting subjects for me; and I have worked in a variety of media, including oil, watercolour, acrylic, pastel, pencil and charcoal.

Art quotes that inspire me:

Carl Jung wrote that the artist is ". . . one who carries and shapes the unconscious, psychic life of mankind."

"The artist enriches the soul of humanity. The artist delights people
with a thousand unsuspected shades of feeling. The artist reveals
spiritual riches until then unknown, and gives people new reasons for
loving life, new inner lights to guide them." - RODIN
